The sky this weekend was as blue as it’s been in months. I stared at it through the window in my home studio and floated away on the notion of the sky as a loop – its endless blue, its cyclical regularity, its motion within motion.

Samples stretched, pitch preserved, with noise, harmonic and/or binaural processing. These went into the DAW and were combined with the original recording snippets in various ways. Further effects included delay, resonance, vibrato, distortion, EQ and amplitude modulation.

my 2nd contribution to the disquiet junto. this one involved turn-of-the-20th-century edison cylinders, which i fed through resonance, delay and finished with a light flange. the drone reminds me of guitar picks gliding down piano strings, which is soothing to me (since home is a metallic-droning megatown).
a remix of marcus fischer’s “nearly there” stems, provided to the disquiet junto. my first contribution to this wonderful spark of collaborative creativity offered by marc weidenbaum, whom i’ve followed for years at disquiet.com. the track is a not-so-random but not-everyday dive into the ambient for me. looking forward to the junto taking me further out to space.
