#DaCaLuF 124: Fire In The Arcuide

fire in the arcade [off transient lines (2013)] soundtracks a Bellais family adventure amidst cliff-dwelling Patagonian parrots (Monk Parakeets) in Argentina. Fwiw, we have Monks here in my Brooklyn neighborhood. They nest in a Con-Edison sub-station on the edge of a graveyard about 16 blocks south of me.

Pour débuter la descente en Patagonie, voici la falaise aux perroquets !

#DaCaLuF 110: Caymans In Echo Lake

Echo Lake [off Stay Home vs. The Love Shoppings (2007) and Reflected.10×10 (2012)] soundtracks a Bellais family adventure with the wildlife of Brazil’s Pantanal. Piranha fishing to Echo Lake – who could have dreamed? :^D

#DaCaLuF 109: Always In The Sky Stuck With Hungry Caymans

A camper breaks down, leaving the Bellais family stuck overnight on a flooded road in the Brazilian Pantanal. Surrounded by hungry crocodiles, they make it through the night using collective wits, sheer grit and a little help from some kind strangers.

A new Wes Craven film?

Nope. Just another day (and night) in the Bellais family’s two-year adventure around the world in their custom fire-truck camper. This one’s set to Always In The Sky [off :^D (2011) and Reflected.10×10 (2012)].

Somehow not as terrifying to them as to me. Read more about their night here.

:^D

Un bon plantage au milieu des caïmans, eh oui … autant pas faire les choses à moitié :-)

#DaCaLuF 094: Ziplining To Zipline

The Bellais family from France (David, Camille, Lucile et Félix, aka “DaCaLuF“) is traveling around the world in a converted old fire truck for two years. I learned all about them last week when David Bellais contacted me through vimeo to say he’d used a track of mine in one of his regular video chronicles of their experiences. How xlcnt, then, to see Zipline [off Hola, Sayulita! (2010) and Reflected.10×10 (2012)] soundtracking his family’s actual zipline rides. The joy of these kids, the opportunity for exploration afforded them by their parents, the wild overarching celebration of life inherent in this random yet calculated organic adventure – all adds up to something special. A track of mine somehow touched a small piece of that and it reaffirms why I write songs. Thank you, Bellais’es and good fortune!

Suspendu au dessus de la jungle !

2014.12 UPDATE: They’ve used a few more of my tracks in their video episodes, and it’s an absolute kick to follow along and hear my songs pop up every so often.
