infinite destination: vegetarian dream

Infinite Destination [off Hola, Sayulita! (2010) and Reflected.10×10 (2012)], was originally inspired by (and written for) the actress Ellen Page. I had the fortune of sharing a few adventures with her and a cohort of ridiculously talented artists in 2009 and 2010 when my wife Cat costumed designed the film Whip It. An avowed and affirmative vegetarian (with raw vegan tendencies), Ellen taught me that salad for breakfast is a fractal of the good life.

In any event, this 2014 creative commons use of Infinite Destination to celebrate a “vegetarian butcher” in Madrid, Spain, just surfaced, and brings some of the track’s intention full-circle. You’re every dream I ever had…

#DaCaLuf 140: Man Again meets El Gaucho

Man Again, the country-fried FMA bonus track off of Transient Lines (2013), soundtracks a Bellais family adventure with a cowboy named Gavino in the town of Cochrane on the Argentinian and Chilean border.

Gavino can neither read nor write, but he knows how his bread, butter and cheese, lived for 17 years in his isolated farm without running water or electricity, with cows, dogs and some nice horses.
When will take stock of these years of travel, this is not the Machu Picchu or the Iguazu Falls arriving in mind the best memories, but the authentic encounters around the sharing and simplicity!

M[-22]elody Chaos

Supercharged use of my track Melody Chaos [off Particle Theory (2014)] in a vid by Josh Wesling (Smile, Always), chronicling a summer motorcycle ride around Bear Lake, Arcadia and Franfort, Michigan. Sitting here in freezing NYC, battling pelting snow and unrepentant ice pellets, so this excursion brings me some sunshine. Smile, always, indeed.

for whom the ice tolls [disquiet0157-icemusic2015]

PROJECT
Please record the sound of an ice cube rattling in a glass, and make something of it.

PROCESS
My 54th Junto contribution is my first stab at the ice challenge.
Dropped ice into a brandy sniffer.
Recorded into Samplr for iPad then sliced and diced with Samplr’s onboard effects and my guitar pedal board.
The ringing of the glass after the ice hit, pitched down a couple octaves and slowed, provided a distant church bell effect.
The drone bed was the same ringing granulated through an EHX Superego pedal and fed through Earthquaker Devices Afterneath and Strymon blueSky reverbs.
Added more reverb, as well as amplitude modulation in the DAW (Sony Acid Pro 7.0).

There are 12 “chimes” of the bell. Noon or midnight – it’s up to you to decide…
